Flash Workshop Part 1 - Designing Good Instruction
Yesterday we completed Part 1 of our Flash Workshop Series. There were 25 total in attendance (19 Academics and 6 Technicians). Part One was a compulsory course and prerequisite to Part Two, the hands-on Session.
We offered this workshop as a result of the Lifelong Learning initiative tied to the training bursaries handed out to the OUSL community. Three technician have received Flash Training and now are required to provide training sessions for the OUSL community. Since Flash Development can be VERY resource intensive, it was imperative to present one shorter workshop to emphasize the planning role.
You can review the Workshop Handouts, References and Resources (including links) at our newly created OUSL-CE site here: http://ouslce.pbwiki.com/LOResources
Some of the highlights from the session included:
- discovery of many learning object sites that may have resources we can immediately add to our online courses.
- an awareness that it is important for the Academics to design the learning for the Learning Object and then, once they are complete, the Academics should ensure they have ALL the files from the Development phase, not just the SWF.
- An agreement that we should employ a systems approach to development that will include templates, a style guide and file management conventions.
